* Psyche van het Folk, Radio Centraal, Antwerpen, Belgium Playlist the 23rd of may, 2001: 930-1200 AM : "Experiences and associations with the singing of Robie Basho and some other associations. A radio program dedicated to the native American." Ace Rec. Robie Basho : "The seal of the blue Lotus"(1965)**°°°? Tr.6, "Black Lotus -Hymn to Fugen" 8 min After hearing this album after reexamination I think I realise it sill has a certain primitvism despite its great ideas. If I think of Steffen Basho Junghans "Songs of the earth" developing the same style I realize how an advanced technical skill enriches the original subject. Now having heared Robbie's 1972 album I realise there must be much more unknown potential in Robbie's records. Ace Rec. Robie Basho : Guitar Soli"*** Tr.6, "Oriental Love Song" 6 min Tr.8, "Salangadou" 5 min Vanguard Buffy Saint-Marie. (1964)**** Track 11, "The Incest Song" 5 min Capitol Rec. Robie Basho : The Voice of The Eagle (1972)****° Tr.1, "Voice of the eagle" 8 min Tr.3, "Blue Korn Serenade" 11 min Some rituals were held to have the eagle as messenger for the gods voice. Blue korn serenade refers to the Inca believe the white brother was once coming back for the Indian people. History has still to achieve this prophecy. Capitol Raôul Duguay : L'envol (1973) Tr.3, "La Solitude" 5 min Tr.4, " L'envol " fragment 2 min Tr.5 " Al Enavap " 4 min Capitol Alllô Tôulmônd' (1975) Tr.2, " Tôuttt étôt bôuttt " 2 min Capitol Raôul Duguay : M (1976) Tr.1,Trans "M((û)e))" 7 min Tr.2, Lil" 4 min Also Raôul had a very individual way of singing. I preferred to play him here. Ace Rec. Robbie Basho : voice of the eagle Tr.6, "Sweet Medicine" 5 min Bootleg Gila : "Bury my heart at wounded knee"(1973)****° Track 2, "In a sacred manner" 5 min Tr.6, "Black Kettle's Ballad" 5 min Tr.7, "Little Smoke" 5 min Tr.5, "The Buffalo are comming" 7 min Comet Rec. Robbie Basho : The Voice of The Eagle. Tr.2, "Wounded Knee Soliloquy" 6 min Kopf Records Moondog : "Sax for a pax" Tr.15, "single foot" 2 min An ode to the Indians, while Moondog once having not only had the honour of learning Indian rythms but also of playing the mother drum as a child once. At this recording he ends his inspiration in using the simple drumming once more, after a lifetime of incredible advancement in rhythm. This back to his basic heart beat I liked less than what he did before. Zendik Soundz Wulf Zendik : "Jewels and Things" 5 min Wulf Zendik is honoured here once more. He came back to a practical way of living in tribe community with some philosophical open ideas foundations. Voiceprint Harry Williamson and friends : Life in the world unseen (2000) Tr.7, "Slither and boobongs" 3 min Tr. 13, "Highlands pt.4 "Godabeone" 9 min Tr.4, "Angel Bar" 4 min Tr.5, "Sega-stream" 4 min This CD has so much rest in it, it is not easy to get a grip on it unless you sit down completely quiet yourself. Then its activity can work properly. And it is very meditative, but full of content as well. The tracks are collected over 20 years and are recorded over a period of 4 years and are brought into perfect balance. Harry Williamson uses beside guitar and other finger picking instruments also the "angel drone", a self made instrument which is a combination of a double dulcimer (played by modulated air currents through music boxes) with a guitar arm in the middle. For the rest several ethnical and other instruments are accompany for the guitar pieces. Other guests on the album are Didier Malherbe, Guy Evens, Robert Calvert and several others. Harry Williamson collaborated during some of these years with Mother Gong.
